Greetings from OMSI, the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry!
OMSI is located in Portland, Oregon along the banks of the Willamette River. OMSI is a high-tech museum, but really it’s a wonderful learning playground for children of all ages. There is so much to learn at OMSI, there are many scientific experiments well disguised as a playground.
Our first visit to OMSI was probably a good twenty years ago when Courtney was a young girl. The museum just keeps improving and adding more interesting experiments each time we visit. If you are in the Portland area and haven’t been to OMSI in a while, then we highly recommend you visit.

After our visit to OMSI, we decided to grab some lunch at L&L Barbecue. L&L is a Hawaiian BBQ restaurant chain and they have some excellent Hawaiian plate lunches. We lived in Hawaii for almost six years, and our oldest daughter Courtney was born in Honolulu! It brings back a lot of very fond memories when we eat a Hawaiian plate lunch.
Mumzies had their fried shrimp plate. Papa had the Loco Moco, which is a hamburger patty and fried egg with a brown gravy over two scoops of rice. Papa also had a Hawaiian favorite, Spam musubi. Since being introduced to Spam during World War II, Hawaiians can’t get enough of the salty potted meat. Spam musubi is an overgrown sushi roll with Spam, rice, and nori (seaweed).

We had a great time at OMSI and can’t wait to take Juliette Paige there when she is older.
Watch the video below to see more of our day at OMSI. Check it out!
Best wishes,
Mumzies & Papa
